UPSC Main Exam Date 2026: The Union Public Service Commission has announced the Main examination schedule for the Civil Services Examination 2026. According to the official UPSC Calendar 2026, the Civil Services Main Examination is scheduled to commence on August 21, 2026.
The UPSC CSE India’s most prestigious competitive examination, conducted for recruitment to services such as IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, and other Group A and Group B Central Government services.

UPSC recently announced the Civil Services Preliminary Examination Result on 15 June 2026. According to official data, 13,343 candidates have qualified for the Main Examination. Qualified candidates should now focus on answer-writing practice, current affairs, and revision of optional subjects.
The Detailed Application Form-I (DAF-I) portal is open from June 19 to June 28, 2026 (6:00 PM). All candidates qualifying for the Mains must log into upsconline.nic.in to lock in their preferences and reconfirm details. Failure to submit the DAF-I within this window will result in disqualification from the Mains.

The UPSC Main Examination is written and consists of nine papers. Two papers — one Indian Language and English — are qualifying in nature, carrying 300 marks each. Seven papers are counted for merit ranking, carrying a total of 1,750 marks.
